Sponsorship

Dear Sir or Madam:

The Tennessee Tech Equestrian Team was formed as a way for university students to gain experience riding and showing horses in a safe positive environment.  We are part of the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association and have riders in both hunter equitation and western horsemanship disciplines.  Our team is open to all interested riders at Tennessee Tech no matter their background, experience or major.

Although there are many wonderful aspects of the IHSA, a very special one is that participants do not have to own or lease a horse in order to participate. Our team rides off campus at Tightfit Stables in Baxter.  Teams like TTU provide horses for lessons and the participating teams bring appropriately trained horses to the shows and students draw their mount for their classes.  In many cases they have never seen the horse they are asked to ride.  Students are judged on their ability to communicate with their mount.  Since the riders do not own the horse they are riding, it allows more students to participate.

Horseback riding is often thought of as an individual sport but by helping to sponsor our Team, you will help teach these young athletes that individual performance does influence the entire group.  Our team is made up of riders at different stages of their riding careers from beginner through advanced and allows each member to contribute to the team with their individual performances.  There are many positive aspects of horseback riding that enhance the lives and education of young adults. The goal of our organization is to encourage teamwork, leadership, physical activity, and communication both within the team and in our surrounding communities by representing the Upper Cumberland at horse shows across Tennessee and the southeast.

We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at one of our local shows!

Best Regards,
